If you're not enjoying your life then your missing God's Best for you!
One of the things that we need to do in order to enjoy our life is to learn to deal with pressure, learn how to deal with problems and learn how to Not be defeated by them.
You may say, "I can't help the way I feel!" No, we can't always help the way we feel. Feelings are kind of radical. They come when you don't want them and they leave when you'd like them to stay. Our emotions can be our #1 enemy. Our emotions and feelings keep us from doing the things that we know we should do.
When we're down, we don't feel like Praising God. Some people don't "feel" like working so they don't. Some people don't feel like cleaning their house, so they don't. Some people don't feel like praying and spending quality time with God, so they don't. Some people don't feel like paying their bills, so they don't! And then everything becomes a mess.... The list goes on and on and on...
We can't always help what we feel because sometimes a feeling comes suddenly. But I'll tell you what we can do...
We can do something about the way we think
We can do something about what we say
We can do something about the way we act
You can "feel" totally wrong and still "choose" to do what is right.
Sometimes I "feel" like I could just slap somebody, but I can "choose" to pray for them, smile at them and go talk to them while my flesh is having an absolute fit!!
Colossians 3 tells us to kill the flesh. That sounds pretty violent but that's what it says! Kill the flesh. You know how to kill something? Just don't feed it!
And everytime we give in to our flesh, we're feeding it. We can go ahead and feed our flesh by getting angry, feel sorry for ourself, have our hang ups, bad attitude, do what we want to do, get all upset and choose to stay that way.
Feelings like to go up and down, up and down and up and down. We need to get real tired of living on a yo-yo, and get some stability in our life.
We have to do something about our thoughts because our thoughts are very connected to our emotions. You can think yourself into a good mood or you can think yourself into a bad mood. We can sit and think about all the things we don't have or don't do and be stressed and miserable or... we can think about all the things we do have and what God has given to us and be Grateful!
Our mind is a battlefield! We can control our own thinking.
Psalm 1:2 tells us to meditate on God's Word day and night; Joshua 1:8 meditate day and night.
We don't have to think about whatever falls in our head. Remember, if what's in your brain is not something that agrees with God's Word, then Kick it out and start thinking about something that's going to do you some good!
We all get into bad moods, that's fine, but it's about "choosing" to stay that way Or taking 10-15 minutes to think our way out of that bad mood or Pray our way out of that bad mood.
2Corinthains 10:15 says to Cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God and bring those thoughts into capitivity. You don't have to let your feelings and emotions run your life.
Start by saying positive things about your life, about yourself, about your circumstances. Speak God's Word over them. Speak what God says about you or your circumstances.
If we're speaking bad things, negative things, down grading things, critical and judgemental things, we are eating those words and they are going to fall down inside of us and make us very unhappy!
So you can think yourself into a good or bad mood, or talk yourself into a good or bad mood or Pray yourself into a Good mood. We have all the strength we need to control our thoughts and our moods because Jesus has given us His strength.
If you are a Christian, God has given you the fruit of self control... It's like a muscle that need to be developed. It needs constant practice.
We don't have to let a little candy bar boss us around or a pie or a piece of cake Lol.....
You Have the Spirit of God on the inside of you, so therefore, you have the fruit of self control!!
Happy practicing!! I know I practice this everyday over and over and over again.....
I pray you are encouraged!! God Bless!!
