Recently, the 82 year old “lovable” actor Gavin Macleod was promoting his new memoir; “This Is Your Captain Speaking” on a morning show. He talked casually about his book, his years on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and his 10 years as Captain Stubing on the 70′s/80′s TV show The Love Boat.
Then he was asked about his faith and… BAM! Gavin lit up and told how, in the 80′s – through his loving wife who he had divorced – he was exposed to Jesus Christ and he was, literally, “transformed”! They even remarried! He then shared (with excitement) how each and every day he lives for his Lord Jesus Christ!
It was great to see someone express their faith on national TV but even more inspiring was listening to him tell how his wife had prayed constantly for him during the three years they were divorced and how her prayers were finally answered. It’s a great lesson we must all remember – to never give up on those we love and to always pray pray pray for them*
