This video show the racehorse “California Chrome” coming from 3rd place to win the Kentucky Derby the other day. There is a lot of buzz and hope that maybe, just maybe, this horse will go all the way and win the Triple Crown this year. That would make quite a story, especially since he is the product of a mere $10,000 investment.
But there is another victory in that win. The old timer who is California Chrome’s trainer, 77 year old Art Sherman. Art was a Jockey for 23 years before becoming a trainer in 1980. He has never worked for anyone with big financial backing but his years of experience and wisdom have proven to be worth more than gold. He’s an inspiration to keep going, not give up, persevere, stay in the race – all that – no matter what your age!
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
